2011 Cape Ann League Scholarship Candidates

Congratulations to our 2011 scholarship candidates, their coaches and families. Their outstanding achievements proudly represent the best of their schools and the Cape Ann League.

CAL Coaches have nominated a field of ten impressive candidates for this year's scholarship. Their praise for these student athletes expressed a shared set of attributes; motivated, intense, dedicated, leadership, belief in oneself, encouraging and inspiring. Each candidate is a serious competitor, garnering respect from rival athletes and coaches across the league and indeed the state. Their resume of achievement speaks volumes; Participation in National Championships, All-State Champions, State Division and All-League Recognitions, All-Scholastic and all-team MVP's. Each of these students have created a legacy of excellence at their school and head to college knowing that their contributions will not be soon forgotten.

The criteria for nomination calls for accomplished student athletes whose performance and sportsmanship encourages and inspires others in the athletic community. Each nomination is a direct result of personal achievement and the commitment each athlete has made to training and to team performance at the highest level.

The candidates were honored in a brief awards ceremony following the 2011 Cape Ann League Track & Field Championships held at North Andover High School on May 21, 2011.

For the second straight year, the field of ten candidates has an impressive resume of achievements: National All-American, Boston-Globe All-Scholastic and Boston Globe Runners of the Year, new course and event records at all levels— school, CAL, Class, All-State and Regional, National Honor Society, Class Valedictorian. We hope you had a chance to watch these student-athletes in action. The competition was exciting, their performance inspiring for all fellow athletes in the CAL and beyond.
